Mura Juga in Bloom

Jill Churnside
This painting depicts a time when all bush foods and medicinal plants bloom on the Burrup, traditionally known as Mura Juga Country. Mura Juga is well known for having one of the biggest collections of ceremonial rock art in the world. During the wet season all the plants start to bloom. Many traditional owner people still harvest the bush foods and plants with medicinal properties.
