Spirit Country

This painting is a tribute to the hills of my Country – ancient, layered, and alive. The large arching shapes represent the sacred hills that rise across the my country. Within them sit smaller hills, echoing the way Country holds generations of stories, landforms within landforms, all connected.

The white, glowing circles are spirits – ancestors who still move through this land, watching over us. They live within the hills and walk among them, felt but not always seen. Their presence reminds us that Country is never empty. It is full of memory, energy, and guidance.

The swirls of pink, purple and blue reflect the shifting light at dawn and dusk, when the spirit world feels closest. These colours wrap around the hills, like the warmth of belonging and the weight of responsibility.

This is not just landscape – it’s a living being. A place where past, present and future are always together.
