Spinifex Country

The ever-changing countryside of the Pilbara. Once a beautiful show of colours, now a dry spinifex country. Spinifex or Baru as spoken in the Yindjibarndi language. The Baru has many uses to build houses, for fire, cooking seeds to be eaten. After the country has been burnt, the Baru has left behind the wax that’s clumped together. This is used as a glue, keeping insects and unwanted guests away.
