Marni

Jiirda mina mina is the sacred place on our Country. It is the increasing site for flour. In the early days our ancestor gathered seeds and ground it for flour. There is a sacred area where we find ochre. Yellow, white and red we use. Ochre is used for ceremony. When the boys go through lore we use the white ochre. A young man will dip his hand in white flour and then he will walk through into becoming a man – no longer a child.
