Creation Spirits

Aboriginal people believe the earth was formed long ago back in the past, an age we call the Dreamtime. In our Yindjibarndi culture this is know as Ngurra Nyujunnggamu (when the world was soft). Mingaalaa and Marrgaa spirits created our world, as they moved over the land, they created natural features and all life forms, including people, birds, fish, insects, animals and plants. Once they were happy with their creation, the Earth turned hard and these spirits disappeared from this world. We know these spirits ae around us, living on through various forms that we respect. This is our connection and obligation to protect and care for country.
