Blue Tree on Country
Melanie Robinson
In a first for Colours of our Country, a silent auction piece will be up for grabs, with all proceeds raised from this sale to go to the Blue Tree Project to support mental health awareness.
The silent auction will be open until 3.00pm Friday 15 October. All bids will be taken online. Please see silent auction terms and conditions before placing any bids.
Something that is close to our hearts. My husband and I have lived in the Pilbara community for over 25 years. We both grew up in the Pilbara and have always loved our time on Yinhawangka,Banjima,Ngarluma and Eastern Guruma land where we now live in Tom Price.
Unfortunately many people still struggle alone, we do hope this project and piece keeps the conversations active and the donation helps those struggling out there. The Blue Tree initiative reaches far wider than our little community. All over the Pilbara, from local residents, the indigenous communities & the FIFO workers.
We can all do our part to help spread awareness and support our fellow friends & neighbours. For country people sometimes barriers such as distance prevent the opportunity to speak to someone or get the mental health assistance that are so needed.
To Kendall Whyte the founder of this amazing foundation, thank you for coming up with a way that highlights ‘mental health’ and keeps the conversation at the forefront.
Prices will be released when the exhibition opens and sales go live on Monday 16 September.
In the meantime, please add it to your wish list. If you’re not yet signed up, stay updated by joining our mailing list here.
100% of all proceeds go directly to the artists, art centres and their communities
